Get fit, Raise funds, Beat cancer

What’s happening?

I am walking The 25th London Moonwalk on May 20th as part of Team Lovely Jugilees and 8 weeks later, the Macmillan Mighty Hike Thames path. 2 marathons in 8 weeks for Cancer related charities.

How does that involve you?

Sadly, we have all been affected one way or another and I would like to bring as many people together to use fitness and fun as a way of raising funds. Choose as many classes as you like, take part in some exercise from the comfort of your own home and make a donation appropriate to your budget while sharing this with friends, colleagues and family to bring fitness into your community.

So what happens?

Start your May Day Bank Holiday early with some dancing.

Dance Fit. Beaulieu village hall on Thursday 27th April, 6.30 - 8.30pm dance fit teacher extrodinaire Kevin Thatcher.

In his own words "Dance yourself to fitness, not just body but your mind. You will sing smile and shimmy your way through this class. No dance experience necessary - just come along and join in. I have danced for over 40 years from the lights off the Royal Opera House to the dizzy heights of the stage at Beaulieu village hall and now teach every Friday at the Lymington community centre Come and join me!" www.lifeonanevenkeel.co.uk

Bring a mat as I will take you through a stretch afterwards and please bring a glass as we will be rewarding you with a glass of fizz. Can’t make the live event? Email me for the link as we plan to Zoom the evening.

Please make a donation to either of the charity links of your choice. All donations are welcome so please pay what you can and come and join us!

Please email me if you are coming so I know how many bubbles to buy.

Thank you to the Beaulieu Village hall committee for kindly donting the evening FOC.

What next?

Now we go online and I bring to you some amazing and hugely experienced teachers who will deliver to you, a range of different classes. Please keep an eye on this page as we are adding more classes soon. Find out more about the teachers and their classes.

I would love to take Pilates off the floor and out of the studio into our lives- around the house, workplace and parks...

Pilates chair based is perfect for us as we spend (unfortunately) most of our days sitting! We might as well use the chair properly!

June 2nd 6pm  - Pilates circuits. 60 mins class. We look at a flow of 10 exercises and work in a circuit. The first circuit is spending 75 seconds on a layer 1 version of each exercise, the second circuit is a layer 2 version and the third circuit is a layer 3. Obviously you can stay at whichever layer suits you. No release stretches so it can get a little bit warm by the end of the class. Warm up with weights and mobilisation of all joints. Ideal if you have some prior knowledge of Pilates, but not essential as the first round includes a brief set up of the body for each exercise.

Friday 16th June 6pm  Yoga and yoga nidra. 75 mins class.

This class will allow your body to stretch whilst being supported – bring bolsters or rolled up bath towels, cushions,  blocks and yoga bricks (or books) and a warm blanket. We will use breathing techniques to centre and calm the mind and the body and ove to a variety of poses which we will hold for 3-5 minutes. This allows the stretching of connective tissue so that our bodies really have time to relax and deeply stretch. The last 20 minutes of the class is a yoga nidra (yogic sleep) session, allowing deep mental and physical relaxation – you don’t have to do anything except listen, stay warm and maybe even drop off.
