Block 6. Week 4.

I was teaching a small outdoor group last week and I couldn't help but notice the display on one particiapnt's watch. I am used to seeing heart rate monitors and fit bits flashing away on people's wrists but I was quietly becoming a little alarmed. His watch display was steadily going up and at no point did it drop back down again. When I thought we were drawing close to possible heart failiure, I had no choice to mention it to him. "Oh no" he said, "That's not a heart rate monitor, it's a calorie counter!".

I only recently bought a watch. Back in the old days (BC) when I did lots of 121,s  I could generally rely on my clients to have a clock in the room or I would discreetly check my phone. Not this one time. I was in a short sleeved top so it was obvious that I was not wearing a watch and I had forgotten to bring my phone in. Fortunately my client was wearing a watch and every now and again, I could squint carefully and notice the time and manage the session accordingly. When I told him the session was finished, he looked at his watch, looked at me and said "good grief, how did you know?"....."Oh" says I, "many, many years of teaching one hour slots. I'm pretty expert now at guaging it"..... He was so impressed that he went into the kitchen to tell his wife by which time I couldn't 'fess up!! They think I'm quite the marvel!

I do however, ALWAYS notice when anyone in my class looks at their watch and today my namesake surpassed herself.... "Juliet did you just look at your watch" I asked and swift as you like, she quite brilliantly replied "Oh, I am just enjoying this SO MUCH, I can't bear to think it's nearly over".

WORKSHOPS. I am planning some Saturday morning online workshops. While these will be geared towards Pilates teachers, if you attend my classes and think you fancy the idea of some master classes and some new ideas for small equipment and better understanding how to adapt the moves, you will be very welcome. Please email me for more info.

Have a lovely weekend and don't forget, next week is the last in the block :)
