November challenge. Day 1
WELCOME!!!
Day 1. Today is World Vegan Day. I am not going to ask you to give up meat but I am going to talk rainbow meals. A rough guide is to say that the more colour on your plate, the more nutrition it contains. Can you add some berries to your breakfast, go wild and experiment with different veg. and maybe try some fresh fruit or veg. you don't usually eat? For 30 days, can you get a rainbow on your plate for one meal every day? If possible, skip the supermarket and find your local veg. shop or market?
A really quick and easy way to get a head start on nutrition is by making a blend and this is also a really good way to "hide" vegetables for kids who may be more reluctant, as with some pineapple or apple, dates and berries, you can easily disguise the taste. Fortunately we have the experts on hand and The Kitchen Social has given us a recipe to get us going.
Morning Cleanse
45g broccoli ( freeze first to dull some of bitterness)
2 tbsps avocado
1 apple peeled & cored
1 banana
Fresh lemon juice
Water
Use equal portion of fruit or liquid
Use a maximum of 3 types of fruit to retain individual flavour
Use frozen fruit if you forget to buy fresh (keep in freezer)
Prep and drink smoothie straight away - they lose their nutritional goodness if allowed to sit.
