Weekly wrap up. Week 32. 2025.

Hello August

I would like to start with an apology to anyone who did yesterday's 8am weights class. Don't know about you but my legs are falling off ..... could hardly walk downstairs this morning!!

And so to August. While we are still in full summer holiday immersion, there is a change in the air, the nights are very slowly drawing in and there is a distinct chill when the sun drops. I am always a bit half and half about this. I remember from my childhood feeling sad when I saw the purple blanket of heather across the forest as this spelt the end of summer and a return to school but at the same time, the full on Summer madness cannot last forever - as someone who craves a break from routine and welcoming summer shenanigans, I am equally now ready to embrace the next season and the "what's next".  I remember when I had a year backpacking with my children, how I missed the change of seasons and (dare I admit), being a bit bored with endless sunshine. While I still fancy living in the sun at some point, I am definitely English through and through - bring on season changes!

Apart from anything else, when the heatwave hits, normal jobs go out the (wide open) windows and in a short space of time, my house looks like I have. been burgled and the "to do" lists get piled up with the dust.

It is always a joy to break away from the norm and nothing helps enable this for us better than the long, hot summer days we were treated to but nothing lasts forever. I think of August a bit like a gentle transition preparing us for the shorter days and tackling all the jobs that were pushed to the corner when we were busy bbq'ing and summer partying! Maybe this is an opportunity to slow down a bit from full on Summer and take some time to reflect and recharge before we hit the Autumn onslaught.

With the NF show packed up, I am preparing for another stint at Carfest so do come and say hello if you are going, and join my class in the Spafest zone

We will have a reduced timetable for the end of Aug/start of Sept as I disappear somewhere for a recharge before hitting Autumn full throttle but more of that later.

We have lots to look forward to, and I have a few plans up my sleeve.

We start in September  with our Relaxing and Wellness day over on the Isle of Wight, with our flower farming, artist Pilates member supremo Sarah. No suprise that this was fully booked very quickly and will be a real treat for us all.

To find out more about Sarah's stunning flower arrangements, please head to Clamerkinwild on your socials.

Make sure you have Wed Sept 10th booked for our Teatime talk. This is going to be a relaly special one on the history of Joseph Pilatetes with Pilates researcher and historian Jonathan Grubb - everyone welcome and all details on my website.

In October, I have booked a private tour with The New Forest Ghost Hunter - can't wait to share more about that in due course.

Bridgerton, Wednesday season 2 and of course SCD are beckoning us in from the garden and onto the sofa......

For now though, let's enjoy these (still) long, warm days although I have to admit, being on a hosepipe ban is quite boring and my garden aint what it was!

So the heat returns and to take advantage, I will be teaching on the beach next Monday and Tuesday - online classes will run as usual (we always hope! wifi has only let me down once in 4 years) so if you are local, come on down.  Please note that the Tuesday functional strength will be replaced on this occasion with a more traditional Pilates class due to being on the beach.

Other than that, apologies for posting late... summer rules and all that!

Have a lovely weekend and see you on the beach, online or via the library.

Jx
