So just as I was harping on about Autumn and a chill in the air, the sun has returned, the hydrangeas are once more gasping and wilting and Summer reigns (as opposed to rains!)
Along with heatwave no. 4 (apparently), let's embrace NATIONAL RELAXATION DAY! Quite why we need an official day I have no idea but let's not miss out. I captured this foal today clearly practising for tomorrow. I thought she was a particularly pretty and unusual colour.
I think one day is a tad stingy so live on the edge! Push the boat out! Let's have Relaxation week, starting now.... What are you going to do to help you slow down, reflect, recharge and relax? I did mention the whole reflect and recharge last week but August really is the time for that before the onslaught of September which in my book is the new January for goal setting and all that.
I sat in the garden today and read my book. Not overwhelmingly out there and radical but very pleasant nonetheless. I was going to finish the ironing, put some bits and bobs in the loft and then do a weight training session but I didn't. I sat in the garden and read my book.
The bits and bobs will always need putting away. I rarely go anywhere that requires crease free clothing and goodness knows I can afford to skip a couple of days training, so I sat in the garden. I may even have dozed off at one point. It was heaven. ( I also have book club on Monday and have only read 3 chapters so some attention was required - The Avocado Hotel by Bob Mortimer - quite random and entertaining so far).
I had two of the classics this week. One of my favourites (please hear this said with tongue firmly in cheek) - "Do you know - I actually think all this Pilates is helping my back?!".....and another "the cover teacher was great. She told us all about this breathing into our ribs thing. It was really interesting - never done that before".....I think I have almost mastered the gracious smile over slow exhalation while backing away.... almost.... I guess it is all about how it is delivered and how we interpret it.
It is extraordinary and I have been keeping notes for 20 years about the things people say and do in classes... I am sure there is a book in there somewhere. Some of them are very, very funny and some of them are just possibly waiting to be funny when a bit more time has passed!
It has been wonderful to see some familiar faces back on screen: what with surgeries, serious illness and a medical scare or two, you have been much missed and are welcomed back with open arms. (Also big hugs to Jill who is nursing a recently broken ankle).
Our online family notices when a regular or two are absent - although one is absent due to sailing in Looe and has been sending back photos from watching "Beyond Paradise" being filmed for the Autumn series! Very exciting, as was the appearance of a dolphin in the Lymington river this week.
